What Causes Anxiety Attacks
and What I Can Do About
Them.
If you have suffered from
anxiety I am sure you are curious as to what causes anxiety
attacks.
Anxiety varies daily from mild to very severe which are quite debilitating. When
your anxiety levels increase to the point that you start to experience anxiety symptoms above and beyond normal
anxiety then it is called an anxiety attack.
People with general anxiety know when they experiencing an anxiety attack. The anxiety attack
is caused by your body preparing itself against a threat of some sort. The adrenal glands release adrenalin to give
you the extra boost to fight off the threat or to escape it. When no real threat is about, the added adrenalin in
your system continues to build as your anxiety grows and the symptoms escalate. Before you know it you are
experiencing a full blown anxiety attack.

As mentioned above, anxiety attacks are normally your body’s response to a threat,
yet they happen out of the blue when no threat is present and certainly none felt. You can be happily shopping one
minute then have a dark cloud descend upon you and have a full blown anxiety attack.
What causes anxiety attacks?
A small organ in your brain called the Amygdala is responsible for causing your anxiety attacks. This organ is found deep
in the subconscious part of your brain and it regulates the anxiety response you have to external stimuli. Think of
it as a thermostat. It can be easily controlled allowing you to become calm and relaxed when no threat is about and
it can be cranked up quite high the second you experience alarm.
Repeated anxiety, panic attacks and
stress all combine to re-set the amygdala to a higher setting where it seems to be on constant
alert for trouble with a capital T. The slightest trigger sets off alarm bells and you get the symptoms of a full
blown panic attack in seconds.
In order to combat anxiety attacks we need to re-set the amygdala to ‘normal.’
Incredibly once this is done life calms down dramatically and all your anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, and phobias
diminish and in most cases are eliminated forever.
Once you understand and accept this
concept, your anxiety can be quickly and easily cured.
You are not going crazy! The cause of your anxiety
attacks has just been an organ in your brain that got stuck on high and it can be brought back down to normal very
quickly.
